Moving a Willamette CC, Pre-printed Sentiment
This scene depicts a 1939 International logging truck moving a Willamette steam donkey. The Willamette, a popular piece of equipment in the Pacific Northwest, was manufactured by the Willamette Iron and Steel Corporation in Portland, Oregon. From 1901 to 1930, over 3,000 of these steam-snorting steel workhorses were built in the Portland factory - sporting every design and size for every logging use one can imagine.
The logging bridge was of simple design using two Douglas Fir logs and 3" or 4" plank decking. The logs were usually moved into place by a steam donkey.
