A Family Event Art Print
A small woodlands owner returns home with his Husky dog and her pup after cutting the family Christmas tree. Along the way he has picked up a load of firewood for the stove.
The earliest known written record of a fully decorated Christmas tree dates from 1606, when a citizen of Strasbourg wrote that "at Christmas they set up fir trees in parlors - and hang upon them roses cut from many-colored paper, apples, wafers, gilt-sugar, sweets, etc." It was among Martin Luther's followers that the tree first became a Christmas tradition. He enjoyed the festival of Christmas, adding to it hymns of his own and, according to legend, the Christmas tree. With the start of England's penny post in 1839, Christmas cards appeared; fancy and colorful, they soon spread across two continents, adding their cheerful bit to the general air of holiday well-being.
