Cutting 2" Planks Art Print

Nineteen-ninety-three found Lauan Holman hard at work cutting 2-inch planks which will become material for his stock and equipment trailer.

This family's 20 acres of woodland has been their home for twenty-five years. The acreage has also supplied them with the trees to build a 24 ft. by 36 ft. long barn; plus other projects around their farm.

Lauran, a diesel mechanic, has kept this 1965 McCullock chain saw operating for many years. It is a Model 250 with a 24" bar. The saw's attachment, as shown in this scene, is a Granberg Mill, Model Alaskan MK III with a chain oiler assembly from BAILEY'S.

When the saw got hot during operation, gasoline leaked out of the gas cap vent. Lauran devised an expansion tank to catch the leaking gasoline and return it to the saw's tank as the machine was operating.

This family exemplifies a pioneer spirit in this modern age by being good stewards over their land, caring for the Douglas Fir, West Coast Hemlock, Alder, Maple, Dogwood and other species on their acreage; replanting trees for future generations to use.
