The New Forest Art Print
Replanting trees begins after harvest or fire on the forest land. Elk, deer and rodents multiply quickly because tender, young vegetation abounds in the new forest. Protection for newly planted trees from these animals must be provided by the land owner. The Diamond Mesh Tube is one way of protecting he young tree until it is well established. Forest growth now exceeds harvest. In 1920 timber harvest rates nationally were double the rate of forest growth. By 1952, net annual growth exceeded annual harvest from all U.S. forest land. In 1986 net growth exceeded harvest by 37 percent! Locking up forests is not sustainable forestry.
