Falling & Bucking - The Way It Was Art Print
It took many hours of hard work to drop one of these giants of the forest. In earlier years springboards were used to elevate the Fallers above the twisted crossgrain and pitch in the butt of the tree. These men were usually gaunt, rangy and tough, "snoose-chewing" Norwegians, Swedes, Finns or Poles.
It took considerable skill and coordination to be a Bucker and especially a Faller using springboards. Many of these men would compare favorably and in some cases surpass the professional athlete of today in coordination and endurance.
