Forty Years of Forestry, Art Print

For over forty years the forester shown in this scene devoted his professional life to the practice of a land stewardship ethic which integrated the growing, nurturing and harvesting of trees for useful products. Conservation of soil and water quality are also concerns of his. During his professional career he had seen much of the old growth timber in his area of responsibility harvested, regenerated and replaced with a healthy, productive forest.

This scene depicted the forester as he inspected a Douglas Fir seedling planted in 1963, trees to the left in this painting constituted the new forest as it appeared in 1993. Foresters, such as the one shown here, are employed by all major timberland owners who seek the forester's professional advice and wisdom in matters of silvaculture.
