01-12AP Trucking Out the Big Ones, Art PrintWest of Mary's Peak in Oregon's Coast Range mountains nestles a scenic lake in the midst of a beautiful green forest. This forest is a mixture of different ages of trees. It is managed as part of a tree farm and harvested on a sustained yield basis. This Kenworth truck (along with others in the same fleet) is capable of loads such as the 3-log load shown in this scene, to small log loads of up to 50 logs or more. When trees are in their final harvest cycle, seedlings are planted to ensure a healthy, growing forest within 3 years. Trees are our country's renewable resource. (Thanks to Mr. Gene Thompson, Corvallis, Oregon, for information in rendering this painting and story.) |
