The whistle punks jerk line stretched from the yarder's steam whistle to a point in the brush where the punk could see the hooker or clearly hear his bellows and give the signal to take the turn of logs to the landing. By its nature the logger's occupation is among the most dangerous in the country. In recent years successful efforts have been made to reduce accident frequency in the woods. |
