Dorena Covered Bridge Note Card

The name "Dorena" was made by combining Oregon pioneers Dora Burnette and Rena Martins's first names. It is one of the few wooden bridges ever built to repalce a metal one. The 105-foot Howe truss was erected by Lane County in Oregon in 1949 to succeed a spindly steel bridge made unsafe by increased logging activities in the area.
