When Fall turns to Winter near Sweet Home, Oregon, drastic changes occur daily. One day can be sunny and 70 degrees, the next day can be sunny and 25 degrees. The scenery changes fast. One day the leaves are green and a few days later they can be many shades of yellow and orange. Along with this comes the snow in the higher elevations.

Shonshone at the Tetons - Giclee, 20" x 30", Framed
This scene depicts a portion of a Shoshone village at the Grand Tetons in western Wyoming. Buffalo hides are being scraped, the first step in the tanning process, as the meat was being cured on the nearby racks. Living in and around the forested slopes of aspen, pine, juniper, fir and cedar of the west, the Shoshone Indians were a large and important North American Tribe. Native Americans depended on the forests for food, clothing and shelter. They depended upon this renewable resource for their very existence.

The Bobcat - Giclee, 20" x 30", Framed
Much of the area depicted in this scene was clearcut in the 1920’s to 1940’s, the days of springboards and misery whips. As the Bobcat shown in this regenerated forest must complete for food to continue its lifecycle, trees have to share nutrients of the soil in order to grow. The more crowded the trees, the slower the growth.
